You will live about a month. Spend it nursing the queen's brood in safety, or foraging: glorious for the colony, and the job that kills most workers. Or gamble: sneak your own eggs into the comb, past the police that eat 98% of them. Your genes ride on the colony either way. Spend yourself well.

How the odds work
Every core number is drawn from published studies. You allocate 3 ⚡ stamina a week: nursing pays the colony +3 safely; foraging pays +5 but adds 12% to that week's death risk per trip; a laid egg survives worker policing with P = 0.02 (worth +150 if it does). Baseline mortality rises 2% per week of age; a real summer worker lives about 2–5 weeks. Some weeks the colony's needs shift — a brood boom doubles what nursing is worth, a nectar flow doubles foraging (the week-to-week needs are the game's own invention, standing in for the very real way colony labor demands change).
